Four Questions To Help You Test Your Assumptions
/In a world of hubris, one thing that stands out is humility. Here are four questions that help you develop your intellectual humility:
1. Do I think more like a soldier or a scout?
Soldiers defend positions, scouts explore new territory.
2. Would I rather be right or would I rather understand?
Long-term knowledge is more valuable than a short-term victory.
3. Do I seek out and solicit opposing views?
Say “Tell me if you disagree?” instead of “Don’t you agree?”
4.Do I enjoy the pleasant surprise of being mistaken?
See being wrong is a success rather than a failure.
Give them a try and let me know your results in the comments below.
